Art is created as a means of expression. While the artistic styles of Rembrandt and Picasso are evidently disparate, the works of each artist convey a reflection of their lives and the time periods in which they lived. The contrasting artistic styles of the two artists represent the change in artistic expression of the eras. During the modern era, traditional forms and structures were broken up and composed using and abstract ideas. Rembrandt’s works are more traditional and realistic whereas Picasso’s work puts tradition aside and embraces experimentation. Rembrandt’s work conveyed intense emotion through realistic portrayal of people and settings. On the other hand, Picasso found a new way to express raw emotion through cubism. By breaking the world into different shapes, Picasso portrayed the distortion of society. Both artists’ works revolve around emotions and the human experience while conveying poignant social statements about society they were a part of.

We agree with this statement. The comparison made between Rembrandt and Picasso was very similar along the lines of what we thought. We too thought that the forms of art depicted by each artist were reflections of the year they existed in as well as the hardships they endured individually . We liked how you implemented the voice of each artist to express their hardships through their paintings, the examples you gave were also very good, Picasso's courage to experiment in a time of change brought out a better understanding of the modern era as a whole. As well as your comparison to Rembrandt and his traditional forms of art, showing his struggles as well.
ReplyDeleteWe also liked the way you incorporated the sense of emotion and human experience to represent what the artist felt, and painted about. This furthered our understanding and put emphasis on the styles Picasso and Rembrandt used to represent their feelings of what was occurring during this new evolving modern era.
Overall this synthesis was informative and interesting but could use a few more details to help depict how each artist used their own forms of art to show their opinions in this new developing modern era.
