Misanthrope Essay Misael Navarro per. 5

Moliere's The Misanthrope, is somewhat a autobiography of his life during his acting career. All the hypocrisy, back-talk, and flaws were used to reflect the lives of everyday people, giving the use of "thoughtful laughter". Which is hidden in a story full of drama.
Alceste is always disliked in the story by his hypocrisy. He is the one who gives the story it's title. Alceste's talk affects those he cares about using words or actions that he does mean with much certainty. His characteristics portray these someone in the real world have and demonstrate. Alceste is very straight forward, like when he told Orante that his sonnet was not good enough and he should pursue another life. His opinion was the same to one who would of told that their voice wasn't good for a singing career.
Being the person he is, Alceste recognizes his flaws but points out the flaws of others. Such as telling his love, Celimene that she is too flirtatious with other men. All the people who have had an opinion given to them by Alceste knows how harsh he is and also how careless he sometimes is when he speaks.
The Misanthrope, a story which is meant to be a drama, also shares another genre of having some comedy. It's comedy is meant to be recognized by the readers, by uncovering the secret message Moliere left. The reflection of the characters' lives and the lives of people who lived in France, during Moliere's time, is meant to give a new thought on how a person should behave.
